Midwest Climate Collaborative: A Whole School Approach to Cultivating Solutionaries

October 20 @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Free

Schools are reflections of and dynamic influencers upon their communities. How can we harness the power that schools play in shaping populations’ mindsets and practices to effectively shift towards a culture that honors the complexities and interconnectedness of human and environment health, and that responsibly responds to the urgency of climate change? In this session, we’ll explore the concept of Whole-School Sustainability which results when practices aimed at reducing environmental impact, improving health and wellness, and increasing sustainability literacy are holistically integrated throughout a school’s physical place, educational programming, and organizational culture. We’ll then hear from Midwest exemplars of Whole-School Sustainability regarding their approaches and the impact of this work in their school communities. Participants will discuss how whole-school sustainability might work in their setting.
