Managing Sustainability & Indoor Air Quality in School Districts: A Profile of Staff in the K-12 Sector
May 11 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
FreeHi MGS team!
The Center for Green Schools is excited to share our latest report that was released today, Managing Sustainability & Indoor Air Quality in School Districts: A Profile of Staff in the K-12 Sector, which provides insights from a national survey on the financial costs and benefits of hiring PK-12 sustainability and environmental health staff to drive better working and learning conditions within schools. COVID has highlighted the importance of having skilled staff monitoring and working to improve health conditions in schools, and the report findings validate this while also showcasing for school leaders the key support these staff need to accomplish their goals. Thank you for all your amazing photos, they are sprinkled throughout both resources!
We published a companion resource, to help advocates looking to hire sustainability staff at their organization access additional case making facts, staffing examples, actual job descriptions, and reporting structures in the companion resource.
We invite you to join us for our webcast on May 11th to learn more about the report findings and we welcome you to spread the word about the new report, toolkit and encourage advocates for healthy, sustainable schools to attend the webinar. Attached is a promotional toolkit to share through newsletters and on social media and below is a sample post for spreading the word about the webinar.

One key finding in our report was that PK-12 env health staff need more training to improve indoor air quality (IAQ). To help serve school leaders dedicated to this important work, we are hosting, along with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Efficient and Healthy Schools Campaign and in coordination with the U.S. EPA, two free in-person training events for K-12 school staff. The trainings will focus on developing or strengthening district IAQ management plans and sharing the most up-to-date best practices for continuous IAQ monitoring. Please feel free to spread the word for schools to join us for these free events and here is some additional promotional text and social posts.
