Twenty-two girls from across southeast Missouri took part in the Missouri Department of Conservation's (MDC) Discover Nature Girls Camp this week at Camp SEMO at Wappapello Lake. According to the camp organizer, Conservation Agent Christa Cox, the camp was a free, three-day, two-night experience aimed at introducing girls ages 11 to 15 to outdoor skills in a supportive learning environment. The MEEA List of Things to Know About the Global Human Population
- The current global population is over 7.25 billion. The top three most populous countries are China (1.36 billion), India (1.25 billion) and the U.S. (320 million). http://www.census.gov/popclock/

- State Support for Conference - Missouri Department of Conservation and Missouri Department of Natural Resources both agreed to provide support for the fall MO Environmental Education and Green Schools Conference.
- Environmental Education Certification Revision Begins - Jan Weaver (Executive Director) began working on Level I Certification for the revision of the Environmental Education Certification program. See an outline of the proposed changes and how they line up with national accreditation standards.
- MEEA Proposal for North American Association for EE Meeting accepted - Beginning with the End in Mind—Start with Assessments! Join a structured conversation on assessment with opportunities to try out leveled quiz questions on diverse environmental topics (free online), to play an environmental literacy board game (free download), and to start developing assessment ideas for your own program or class.
- MEEA 2014 990 EZ filed
- MEEA Board News- June 9 Meeting.The board initiated using a 'consent agenda' for approving non-controversial subjects. The board approved the 2014 990 EZ for submission. The board agreed to provide support for staff for a Missouri Green Schools program for up to 3 years. The board approved holding a face to face meeting Monday August 3 from 11 am to 4 pm at the College School. The agenda for the meeting is to finalize plans for the conference, finalize awards and approve a slate of nominees for the board for 2016. The board approved proceeding with a plan for revising the MEEA Environmental Educator Certification program to align it with national standards for accreditation and, hopefull, make it easier for people to complete. The board approved moving $20,000 of the funds in the Conservation Credit Union account into a 12 month CD to increase earnings. The board set committees and deadlines for reviewing conference proposals and grants and awards.minutes of the June 9, 2015 meeting
