About MEEA

The Missouri Environmental Education Association is a non-profit professional membership organization that serves educators who teach about the environment and those that support teaching about the environment.

In the last ten years MEEA has developed a mini-grants program, an Environmental Educator Certification program and a Missouri Green Schools Program. It holds a statewide networking event twice a year for organizations and agencies with an environmental education mission (MELAB) and it has a membership of over 400 formal and non-formal educators. It publishes a monthly newsletter, maintains a website, and organizes an annual conference. MEEA is looking for someone to lead the organization through its next stage of non-profit development with a focus on establishing a secure income stream and increasing our diversity.

Job Description

The Director position requires a great deal of independence and responsibility. They must be able to organize their own work and carry out projects with minimal supervision. The major categories of work are:

The ideal candidate will have skills and/or experience in a variety of areas

In addition, the ideal candidate will have a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation, have access to a computer, and have space to work in and store MEEA records. (use of a personal car will be reimbursed at the IRS rate for business travel.

Regardless of their qualifications at the time of hiring, they are expected to continue developing their skills in needed areas.

The Executive Director is a half time position. Salary is $18,000 to $22,000 depending on experience.

Desired Experience

Minimum Experience - A BA/BS in a science or science education field with 2 to 3 years of experience in non-profit work, outreach and education, fund development, communication and/or networking

Preferred Experience - MA/MS in education, non-profit management, fund development or equivalent experience
